The LifeBridge Health (LBH) Department of Research created the Research Coordinator Program (RCP) in 2007 to facilitate sponsored research activity throughout the LBH system. It was specifically designed to support physicians who had an interest in clinical research but lacked access to research staff who could provide administrative and clinical support for this activity. This core program represents the most efficient and flexible mechanism for facilitating clinical research at every LBH hospital and facility.
RCP staff assists principal investigators in negotiating contracts for clinical trials, the preparation and submission of the initial Institutional Review Board and Administrative Review Board applications, as well as all amendment and continuing review paperwork needed during the course of a study. They can also assist in all aspects of a clinical trial, as defined by the principal investigator.
In addition to these administrative and clinical duties, they provide clinical research training and education throughout the LBH system, and participate in hospital community outreach programs.
The RCP occupies office space on the lower level, and laboratory space on the second and third floors of the Schapiro building at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore. The program currently supports clinical trial activity at Courtland Gardens and Levindale, Northwest, and Sinai Hospitals within the Departments of Medicine, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, and Pediatrics.
