Long Term Care

Levindale Hebrew Geriatric Center and HospitalLevindale Hebrew Geriatric Center celebrates life and is dedicated to providing superior service for the elderly, frail and ill in a warm, caring environment. We offer skilled long-term care, physicians on staff, rehabilitation services, respite and comfort care, pain management and hospice.

Levindale has been a leader in defining and developing the field of elder care since it opened its doors more than a century ago. It was the first long term care center to earn certification by the Eden Alternative in 2000. This philosophy infuses companionship, empowerment and spontaneity into the daily lives of residents.

In keeping with our commitment to surpass the needs of our seniors, the first residents are moving into a new elegant three-story housing complex in January 2012. Phase one of this $31 million expansion and build-out of Levindale on the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg campus will be 87,000 square feet, with 84 private rooms and bathrooms; a contemporary town center; a café; a Jewish-themed museum and lovely gardens.

Levindale Hebrew Geriatric Center and HospitalNo matter how they spend their days, residents will go back to beautiful, private bedrooms with the things they love around them. Additionally, every room has a private bathroom, room temperature controls, wireless Internet, space for visiting, lots of storage, and safety and accessibility features. Each room is also located within a small household, which has a kitchen reminiscent of “bubbie’s (grandmother’s) kitchen,” cozy hearth and sitting areas, and dens with big screen televisions and stereos.

Outside, the Levindale Auxiliary funded a sensory garden- especially designed to stimulate the five senses of sight, touch, smell, taste and hearing. This, along with a big porch, landscaped areas and a playground for grandchildren, make the grounds second to none.

In addition to leadership gifts from The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation, Inc. and Willard Hackerman, president and CEO of Whiting-Turner, Levindale thanks the community for its support and generosity and continues an unprecedented $20 million campaign to raise funds to guarantee that our elders live their golden years with respect, privacy and dignity.
