Under moderate to extensive supervision, learns the basics of ICD-9 and CPT coding and abstracting all patient types. Progresses to coder when accuracy and production standards are met.
Requirements: Formal working knowledge; equivalent to an Associate's degree (2 years college); requires knowledge of a specialized field. Enrolled in college level coding program. Basic computer skills; Microsoft Office Suite; Cerner; Synquest; Standard Office Equipment; Medical terminology; Critical thinking skills; Introductory knowledge of ICD9 and CPT. Less than one year of experience.
